GPS is an exciting new organization that is here to provide support to York University undergraduate students. GPS is run by Psychology Graduate students in affiliation with Calumet College, and they are here to help YOU! Check them out online.

The GPS Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in psychology to be paired up with graduate students. Mentors can answer any questions about what graduate school is like, opportunities in the field of psychology, and offer advice on how to get there. Please email Taryn Nepon at tnepon@yorku.ca to learn how to get started!

Preview of our new website

August 27, 2012 in News

August 27, 2012. An important day to remember. Our new Specialized Honours Psychology Program web site is previewed to select members of the Psychology Department for feedback. We hope to achieve several things with the website. First, we hope to increase the visibility and excitement around – what has been – the best kept secret of the undergraduate psychology program. Second, we aim to provide prospective students, current students and research supervisors with clear and easy to find information about the program. Finally, we wish to create a sense of community – a place for students to connect, learn from each other and network. As we celebrate in launching our new website I want to thank several people. Susan Murtha our outgoing Undergraduate Program Director who was instrumental in helping to create the Specialized Honours Psychology Program – Thanks Susan. Thanks also go to Shane Martin and Justin Garzon – two undergraduate students – who created the website. I think they have done a great job!

What do you think? Do you have any feedback or suggestions for us? If so we would love to hear from you as we continue to build a great looking and highly functional website.

Welcome to the new cohort of specialized honours students

Join me in welcoming our new Specialized Honours Psychology students!

This spring over 40 high calibre eligible students applied to the specialized honours psychology program between May 1 and May 15. Seventeen exceptional students were offered a position in the program. Thirteen of these students are entering after their second and will be completing their honours thesis two years from now (this is the ideal timing). The other 4 students will be completing their thesis this coming fall. I am delighted to be working with our new students and look forward to an exciting year.

Check out the student profiles section if you want to learn more about students in the Specialized Honours Psychology Program.
